National Gas Workers Day

Each year on March 18th, DU joins with other natural gas utilities to recognize National Gas Utility Workers’ Day.

This day was selected because of the 1937 natural gas explosion in New London, Texas that prompted additional measures to keep workers and customers safe. We remember and honor the many who lost their lives in that terrible accident – but also celebrate the men and women who supply and deliver this vital energy alternative to our customers here in Decatur – and across the nation.
