DU’s Water Treatment Plant Honored as Best Operated Plant;
Also Receives "Five Year Optimization Award" from EPA.
The Decatur Utilities Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was honored recently as the "2018 Best Operated Plant" in the State of Alabama among Surface Water Plants Greater Than 60 Million Gallons per Day. The award is presented annually by the Alabama Water & Pollution Control Association. The DU WTP won "Best Distribution System" the previous three years.
DU also received notice from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that the WTP was presented a "Five Year Optimization Award for 2013-2017. This recognizes DU fo going above and beyond state and federal regulations for water quality in each of the past five years.
